🎭Broadway-Themed Choir Room Decoration Ideas (Plus a Freebie Inside!)🎭

Hello!

As choir teachers, we know how transformative music and theater can be for our students. Every year, we take our high school choirs on a day trip to a nearby city to see a Broadway musical production. This experience allows our students to witness a professional theater production and inspires them in their own musical journey.

Recently, while cleaning out a file cabinet, I found a collection of Broadway Playbill programs from past choir trips and personal family outings. Initially, I considered tossing them, but then inspiration struck: why not use these Playbills to decorate my choir classroom? This simple idea turned into a full Broadway-themed decor project.

Here’s what I did:

  1. Playbill Garland:

    • I selected the front covers of the old Playbill programs and included the production page with the show dates.

    • After laminating these pages (to preserve them for future reference), I hole-punched the tops and strung them up with twine.

    • This Playbill garland now hangs above my whiteboard at the front of the room.

    • To add a touch of sparkle, I placed a string of white lights above the Playbills.

  2. 🎶Broadway Bulletin Board:

    • I extended the Broadway theme to a bulletin board by incorporating Broadway musical postcards, which I found on Etsy. (See link below for a similar product since the current postcards are unavailable at the time of this article.)

    • I created a Broadway banner and added various theater and music decorations to enhance the theme.

    • If you're looking to replicate this without purchasing anything, you can print out logos of your favorite Broadway musicals, laminate them, and post them on the board.

These simple yet effective decorations have transformed my choir room into an inspiring space that celebrates the magic of Broadway. I hope these ideas spark your creativity and help you create an engaging environment for your singers!

Happy decorating! 🎉 Melanie
