Choir Sub Plans Made Fun! 🎵⭐
Why Sub Plans Matter
If you are like me, you save up your sick and personal days until the end of the school year, “just in case something comes up”. Teachers go to work when sick because it’s simply easier to work through the day feeling ill rather than actually write sub plans. Add a national teacher substitute shortage on top of everything else and you see why teachers choose to just go to school when ill.
When I talk with newer teachers, I ALWAYS tell them to take those sick days. Schedule out a fun personal day. Not taking advantage of these days adds to teacher burnout. Do yourself a favor and schedule your next day off ASAP!
In my school district, a music endorsed substitute doesn’t exist. It might not even exist in our entire county. As a result, I’ve found myself creating resources that ANYONE can give out. I used to give students music theory worksheets, but the truth is that the students HATE these and the substitutes cannot provide help, even with an answer key.
So that is how the “3 Days of Choir Sub Plans” lesson series was born. It was important to me that these worksheets/activities are NO PREP and easy to hand out. Did I mention that I want them to be fun for the students? I wanted to tap into the creativity of our music students and keep them engaged for the full class period. Because we all know what can happen if the students are bored, am I right?
