3 Days of Choir Sub Plans for the Non-Music Substitute 🤧🎶
We've all been there. One moment you're fine, and the next, you can't even get out of bed. The internal debate kicks in: Is it easier to soldier through the day while sick or take a day off to write sub plans?
And the struggle intensifies with the lack of available substitutes. If you're fortunate, you might get someone who can manage a crowd, and hitting the jackpot is finding a sub who can ACTUALLY teach music. But, let's face it, finding a music-savvy sub is like searching for a needle in a haystack.
In reality, you won't find someone who can handle your choir quite like you can. What you need is someone who can "maintain" your choir for a day—someone to keep the drama to a minimum and the classroom in order.
But who has the time and energy to fret over writing sub plans for those unexpected (or planned) days away from the classroom? The truth is, relying on students or section leaders to run a rehearsal can lead to unstructured chaos.
Fear not! With over 20 years in the classroom, I've discovered that students thrive under a substitute when given something creative to do in my absence.

🎵 3 Days of Choir Substitute Plans- Part 1
“Choir Trip Director”🌍✈️- Students can plan a virtual choir tour and make fun itinerary decisions for the group.
“Design a New Musical”🎭🎵 - This lesson offers students the chance to create and name their own original Broadway-style musical.
“Design a New Choir”👑🎶- Students can take charge, decide on a name, repertoire and concert attire for their own choir.
Remember, keeping the music alive doesn't always require your physical presence. By infusing creativity into your absence, you not only engage your students but also make your return to the choir room a celebration of their artistic endeavors.
