🎉 More Fun, More Singing, Less Stress: Your 2025 Choir Classroom Goals 📅

Happy New Year!

I hope you’re feeling relaxed and recharged after the break. While two weeks off is never quite enough in my opinion, it is a much-needed pause to reflect and prepare for what’s ahead.

For me, the start of a new year always feels like the perfect time to take stock of my teaching practices. We’re at the midpoint of the school year, and it’s a great time to reset, re-prioritize, and set myself up for success.

Here are a few of my teaching goals for 2025:

  • Bring more fun into rehearsals.

  • Keep things academic and aligned to standards.

  • Encourage more singing with less stress.

  • Streamline my planning to stay organized and carve out time for a weekly “No School Saturday.”

Does that sound like something you’re aiming for, too? If so, I’ve got some things that can help! Let me show you how you can achieve these goals in your choir classroom this year.

🎉More Fun in Rehearsals? Say No More!

If you’re looking to energize your students and make rehearsals more engaging, I’ve got two perfect options for you:

  • Singing Games: Need a quick morale booster or a fun Friday activity? These games are a hit with my middle and high schoolers. They’re easy to implement and focus on teamwork, singing, and are just plain fun! My favorite three include: Sing or Dare, Finish the Lyrics and Music Olympics.

  • Choir Wars: A fantastic way to gamify your rehearsals and keep students motivated. Choir Wars is designed to be used for a quarter, semester or the entire year. You choose what works for your classroom! This product combines music learning with a competitive edge, so students stay focused and have fun at the same time. Use it to reinforce concepts like teamwork in a lively and interactive way.

🎶Make Concerts Less Stressful

Concert season can be chaotic, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Check out these resources to simplify the process:

  • Choir Concert Starter Pack: From planning timelines to performance day checklists to lessons for the day AFTER a concert, this bundle has everything you need to run a successful concert. It’s like having a backstage assistant who never forgets a detail.

  • Concert Program Templates: One of the most stressful things about concert prep is putting together a program! These editable templates save you hours and ensure your programs look professional every time.

  • Post-Concert Critiques: Help students reflect and grow with guided feedback worksheets. With 8 worksheets to choose from, these critiques turn performances into powerful learning opportunities.

✨Need to Check Off Standards Without Losing Rehearsal Time?

It took me nearly 20 years to find the best way to teach it all without losing precious rehearsal time. These ready-to-use Choir Bell Ringer Worksheets are a lifesaver! Print one worksheet per month, do one question a day and at the end of the month, collect and grade. And don’t forget about the short quiz at the end of the month!

Each month includes targeted activities that reinforce music literacy, vocabulary, and key concepts—all while taking just minutes of your class time. Buy one month at a time or the entire year!

What are your goals for the rest of the school year? Whether it’s more fun, less stress, or stronger performances, I’d love to help you achieve them. Let’s make 2025 your best teaching year yet!
